Bali Workshop 2026
June 26th - July 3rd
Experience Kuningan, one of Bali’s most important ceremonies, and discover the island’s traditions beyond the tourist trail.
* 6 spaces available *

Ready to experience the side of Bali most tourists don’t get to?
This workshop is timed with Kuningan, one of Bali’s most important ceremonies, when the island comes alive with rituals, offerings, and temple traditions. Over the trip we’ll photograph sacred ceremonies, timeless village life, and Bali’s striking landscapes, alongside moments of daily culture that few visitors ever witness. Along the way, you’ll deepen your photography practice, refine your editing, and gain insider knowledge to help you grow as a travel photographer.
The Itinerary
Day 1: Sidemen + Selat
Our first day will see us exploring the small villages in and around Sideman and Selat at sunrise. Think Mt. Agung, light rays, rice fields and local village life. This is the area of Bali that I am most familiar with, and I can't wait to show you around!
In the afternoon, explore village life in the lead-up to Kuningan, documenting preparations such as making offerings and temple decorations.
Evening editing workshop.
Day 2: Kuningan Ceremony
Today we immerse ourselves in Kuningan, one of Bali’s most important ceremonies, as villages come alive with rituals, offerings, and temple gatherings.
In the morning we put on our traditional Balinese clothing and head into the villages to photograph the atmosphere of the day.
We’ll spend the day documenting temple rituals, processions, and family traditions, moving between villages as the celebrations unfold.
Day 3: Lahangan Sweet
We start at sunrise, shooting in the villages, capturing morning light over rice fields and daily life against the backdrop of Mt. Agung.
After breakfast, we will have a photo review/editing session.
In the late afternoon, we make our way to Lahangan Sweet for sunset, with sweeping views of Mt. Agung and the surrounding landscapes.
Day 4: Kintamani
Sunrise in Pinggan village, with views over Mount Batur. Hopefully, we will be lucky with the weather, as the low fog here makes the view magical.
After sunrise, we will head to Batur Lake to photograph the agriculture and life on the lake.
We will have breakfast on the crater edge, and then head back to Sidemen to check out and move to Ubud for the next part of our trip.
This afternoon is left flexible - if Kuningan ceremonies are happening around Ubud, we’ll join the celebrations with our cameras; otherwise, we’ll use the time for an editing workshop.
Day 5: Rice Terraces + Temples
An early start today as we drive to the Tegalalang Rice Terraces for sunrise. We'll spend the morning documenting the sweeping rice fields - from farmers tending their crops to morning light filling the valleys.
Our next stop is Goa Garba, one of my favourite temples in Bali. Tucked away in the jungle, this ancient site is a quiet, atmospheric place to explore with your camera.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit Goa Gajah, the 9th-century “Elephant Temple.” Here, we’ll capture locals coming to pray amongst the temple’s stone carvings and sacred bathing pools.
Day 6: Kelingking Beach
We start the day in Tampaksiring, photographing sunrise over the mist-covered rice fields with Mt Agung rising in the distance. The soft morning light and layers of fog here make for an unforgettable start to the day.
After breakfast, we make our way to Nusa Penida by boat. Once we arrive, you’ll have a chance to settle in before we begin exploring the island’s dramatic landscapes.
We then spend the afternoon at Kelingking, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. First, you'll be able to shoot from the top of the cliff, with the option of hiking down to the beach, too.
Day 7: Seaweed Farmers
In the morning, we will shoot the seaweed farmers in Penida as they go out for the morning harvest. Seaweed farming re-emerged on Penida + Lembongan during the pandemic as many locals lost their jobs in the tourism sector and had to return to their roots.
We will then take a private boat over to Nusa Lembongan, have lunch and shoot the seaweed farmers there, too.
Sunset boat trip back to Penida.
Day 8: Nusa Penida
On our final morning, we’ll head out for a relaxed photowalk, taking a few last photos together, before breakfast on the beach.
Around midday, we’ll take the fast boat back to Bali, a chance to reflect on the week and say our goodbyes as a group.
Once back on the island, our drivers can drop you at the airport for your flight or take you on to your next destination if you’re continuing your journey in Bali.

“Great group, great locations, great photos, beautifully organised. 10/10!”
Hey, I’m Jord
I’m a full-time travel and landscape photographer from the UK, and I’ve been fortunate to call Bali home for the past eight years.
In that time, I’ve ridden tens of thousands of miles across the island on my motorbike, searching out hidden corners, quiet villages, and unique vantage points that most visitors never get to see. These rides have led me to countless encounters with Balinese culture - from early-morning temple ceremonies and smoky incense-filled processions, to evenings spent watching light fall across rice terraces and towering volcanoes.
Whether it’s documenting age-old traditions, wandering through ancient villages, or simply pausing on a palm-lined beach, Bali continues to inspire me every single day. I can’t wait to share these experiences, and the stories behind them, with you on this journey through the island I’m lucky enough to call home.
